Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the deadline to apply for admission?
All applications should be returned to the admissions office at least 30 days prior to the beginning of the semester in which you wish to start classes.

Q. May I transfer credits from another institution?
Course work completed at other institutions may be transferred and applied toward a degree at Southeastern provided they meet the necessary criteria.

Q. Would I be able to schedule a time to come and visit the campus?
We would love to have you visit our campus. Campus visits give you an opportunity to see the campus environment and meet with professors and administrative staff. You can arrange a campus visit by contacting the admissions office.

Q. Do you offer correspondence or online courses?
We offer a number of online courses in the college. Information can be found on the Distance Learning site.

Q. I work and have a family. Can I commute a few days or take Saturday classes?
Many of Southeastern's students commute from all over North Carolina and even neighboring states. Class times have been structured to allow for several different individual schedules, including Monday, Tuesday-Wednesday, Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday, Thursday-Friday and evening classes. There are commuter facilities available for those spending only one to four nights a week on campus.

Q. Will Southeastern help me find a church-related position?
Southeastern Seminary offers several resources to help place students in ministry positions. The most useful resources can be found in the ministry referral office.

Q. Is student financial aid available?
Although federal financial aid is not available there are several resources that students can take advantage of in order to meet their financial obligations. Students will find there are scholarship and grant funds available as well as many employment opportunities both on campus and in the surrounding community.

Q. How do I qualify for Southern Baptist tuition and can I qualify if I am not a member of a Southern Baptist church right now?
In order to qualify for Southern Baptist tuition rates you must be a member in good standing of a Southern Baptist Church. If you join a contributing Southern Baptist Church during the semester you may qualify for Southern Baptist tuition for the following semester.

Q. What can I expect in the way of total costs (meals, room, matriculation, fees, etc.)?
Depending on your course load and housing arrangements you can expect your schooling costs to be around $12,000 a year.
